Fishing has been hard, we have only managed a few meals a week. We have had some flounder, some bream and some flathead. The crabbing season is only just starting and we have caught a few mud crabs.
Every one that we speak to is having the same poor results and it appears that the on going severe drought conditions being experienced throughout the eastern seaboard of Australia is to blame. Some areas have not had good and consistant rain for about 8 years !! The old timers say “Drought on land results in poor catches at sea”, and I have to say that I am beginning to agree with them.

So far everything is working out very well with no problems, other than higher fuel consumption while towing. The van is very easy to tow and thanks to the off road chassis, suspension and wheels it made the trip over the rough dirt road in and out to Baffle creek very easy.
One of the nice things about this nomadic life is the people that we meet, everyone is very friendly and helpful. They can see from our equipment that we are new at this life and as a result bombard us with helpful hints and tips.
One old couple that we met were outstanding, he was 83 and she was 82 years old !! They had a medium size family car and a small caravan. He told me that they had been living in the van traveling around Aus for 13 years, had worn out 2 cars, had seen and experienced most things over and over and he was disappointed that she now wanted to give up and go home and settle near their grandchildren !!
Currently at Sarina Beach parked on our oldest sons front lawn ( across the road from the beautiful Sarina beach) catching up with our 2 oldest grand children Timothy 13 and Jannah 11. The weather is getting warmer as we move north and as time goes on. So far time has been spent fishing and crabbing ( when it is not to windy) but no time to play golf yet !!
